Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman has vowed to do everything possible to help Nigeria lift the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations trophy in Morocco.
The in-form Atalanta star, enjoying one of the best tournaments of his career, is expected to be central to Nigeria’s plans when the Super Eagles take on the Atlas Lions in Wednesday’s semi-final clash at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
Opponents have tried to shut down Lookman’s threat, with Algeria deploying strict man-marking in an earlier fixture.
But Nigeria adapted swiftly, finding goals through Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams to secure victory.
With three goals already to his name at the tournament, Lookman insists his focus is firmly on the task ahead, delivering AFCON glory for Nigeria.
“I’m always focused on the present and, right now, the present is being here in Morocco for AFCON and trying to help my country win the tournament,” Lookman told Footy Africa. “All the experiences are in the past.”
Nigeria have emerged as the competition’s most ruthless attacking force, netting 14 goals in five matches, conceding just four and keeping two clean sheets.
The Super Eagles’ firepower has been led by Osimhen, Lookman and Alex Iwobi, with strong support from Akor Adams, while Wilfred Ndidi, Frank Onyeka, Calvin Bassey, Semi Ajayi and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali have provided balance, leadership and defensive solidity.
Eric Chelle’s men will be aiming to sustain their blistering form as they chase a place in the AFCON 2025 final.
