IGP Visits Benue After Yelewata Massacre, Deploys Tactical Teams

Following the massacre of nearly 250 people by suspected herdsmen in Yelewata, Guma LGA of Benue State, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has arrived in the state.

The Nigeria Police Force confirmed his visit in a brief Facebook post on Monday, announcing the IGP had ordered the deployment of additional tactical teams to address the worsening security crisis.

The attack, allegedly carried out by suspected Fulani herdsmen, saw dozens burnt alive in the community near Makurdi. In response, hundreds of outraged youths staged a protest in the state capital on Sunday, calling for global intervention over the persistent bloodshed in Benue.
