ICT Stocks Power NGX Rally as Sector Value Jumps to N18.6 Trillion

Nigeria’s technology stocks have become one of the strongest performers on the Nigerian Exchange in 2025, delivering eye-catching gains and reinforcing the growing importance of the ICT sector to the wider economy.

Companies operating across telecommunications, digital payments, hardware and broadband services recorded sharp price increases during the year, pushing the combined market value of listed ICT stocks to N18.61 trillion by November 2025.

This represents a 58 percent rise from N11.7 trillion recorded in the same period last year, underscoring renewed investor confidence in technology-driven businesses.

The sector’s influence now extends beyond its own performance, with several ICT stocks sitting on key market indices and increasingly shaping movements in the All Share Index. Of the nine ICT companies listed on the Exchange, seven delivered positive returns between January and November, reflecting broad-based momentum across large, mid and small capitalisation stocks.

The News Chronicle understands that much of the growth was driven by rising share prices rather than changes in share volume. MTN Nigeria led the sector’s expansion as its market value climbed to about N9.8 trillion, while Airtel Africa followed with roughly N8.5 trillion. Mid tier players such as eTranzact, CWG and Chams also recorded notable valuation increases.

Analysts attribute the rally to improved macroeconomic stability, stronger earnings outlooks and the critical role ICT firms now play in banking, commerce and digital infrastructure, positioning the sector as a key driver of market growth in 2025.
