ICPC Tracks N431.8m Federal Projects Across Sokoto

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has tracked 14 Federal Government projects valued at about N431.8 million across Sokoto State.

The exercise forms part of the commission’s Phase 8B project tracking initiative, aimed at assessing the implementation and impact of government-funded projects across the country.

The Team Lead, Assistant Chief Superintendent Dickson Domfa-Napcwat, disclosed this on Wednesday.

He said the projects covered key sectors, including health, education, agriculture, electrification and special interventions.

Domfa-Napcwat listed the projects to include the supply and installation of medical equipment for the dental department, as well as equipment for the radiology and cardiac centre.

Other projects, he said, included the provision of writing materials to selected schools, installation of solar streetlights and rehabilitation of a burnt hostel, including the provision of beds.

The team also inspected the completion and furnishing of a rehabilitated hostel, the supply of quality seeds to farmers, and cash grants for health and agricultural entrepreneurs under relevant associations.

According to him, the projects are located across Illela/Gwadabawa, Bodinga/Dange-Shuni/Tureta, Wurno/Rabah, Sokoto North/South, Kware/Wamakko Federal Constituencies and Sabon Birni Local Government Area.

He said the Federal Government awarded the 14 projects under its 2023 intervention programmes and expected contractors to fully execute them.

These projects were awarded at an approximate cost of N431.8 million and are expected to be fully executed.

We are to monitor and assess project performance, value of work done, contractor identification, payment details, and project status,” he said.

Domfa-Napcwat added that the exercise would also help the commission determine the value delivered by the projects and their impact on the communities they were designed to serve.
