The Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has called on his supporters to remain calm. He expressed optimism that the people’s widely acclaimed mandate would be retained despite challenges.
Reacting to Thursday’s Appeal Court verdict that declared the March 18, Governorship Election in the state as inconclusive, Lawal said that the Court verdict would not deter him from pursuing the people’s yearning for a shift towards positive development and progress.
In a statement made available to newsmen, the spokesman for Governor Dauda Lawal, Sulaiman Idris, revealed that the Governor’s legal team would take necessary action after reviewing the judgment.
In a running legal battle between the two political actors of the PDP and the APC in the state, the appellate Court had on Thursday held that the Candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Bello Matawalle, has legally proven that PDP’s Lawal was not duly elected. The court ordered a rerun in three Local Government Areas of Maradun, Birnin-Magaji, and Bukkuyum.
