‘I Lost 87kg in Five Years’- Eniola Badmus Opens Up on Gruelling Weight-Loss Journey, Body Shaming

Popular Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus has opened up about her dramatic weight-loss transformation, describing it as the most difficult journey of her life while calling out critics who continue to body-shame her despite shedding nearly 90 kilograms.

In a post shared on her Instagram page, the actress revealed that she lost weight from 170kg to 83kg over the past five years through discipline, sacrifice, and consistent commitment to a healthier lifestyle.

According to Badmus, the transformation did not happen overnight but was the result of years of hard work, painful sacrifices, setbacks and daily determination.

“Five years ago, I weighed 170KG. Today, in 2026, I weigh 83KG. That didn’t happen overnight. It took years of discipline, sacrifice, pain, consistency, tears, setbacks and choosing my health every single day.

“It has been one of the hardest journeys of my life, and I am incredibly proud of how far I have come.”

The actress also recalled the rejection and ridicule she faced as a plus-size actress trying to build a career in Nollywood, saying she had hoped the criticism would end once she lost weight.

Instead, she said she has continued to face relentless body-shaming.

“But here is what breaks my heart: the same people who body-shamed me when I was plus-size are the same people body-shaming me now that I have lost the weight.

“What exactly do you want from me? When someone loses almost 90KG, it is completely normal for the skin to change. Of course, my skin will adjust.

“I am doing my best to take care of myself, use collagen, stay healthy and embrace every stage of this transformation.”

Badmus said remaining silent in the face of online attacks should not be mistaken for strength or indifference, stressing that hurtful comments still affect her emotionally.

“Every time I post, some people find something new to criticize. Just because I don’t respond to the insults doesn’t mean they don’t hurt.

“It doesn’t mean I am weak. It doesn’t mean I don’t have feelings. I am human, blood runs through my veins just like yours, and words have consequences.”

She urged critics to celebrate her resilience rather than focus on her appearance.

“Why not celebrate the strength, determination and resilience it took to get here? If you don’t have anything kind to say, it is okay to say nothing at all.”

The actress expressed disappointment that much of the criticism comes from fellow women despite frequent calls for women to support one another.

“So much of this bullying comes from women. We often say, ‘Women should support women.’ But where is that support when another woman is fighting to become healthier and happier?

“Kindness costs nothing. Let’s stop tearing people down because of their bodies.”

Badmus concluded with a message against body-shaming, insisting that no one deserves to be bullied for their size, whether they are overweight or have successfully lost weight.

“Nobody deserves to be bullied for being plus-size, and nobody deserves to be bullied for losing weight either.”
