I killed My Wife, Daughter Because She Betrayed My Love – Anambra Artisan Confesses

Awka – A 28 year-old man, Chukwuemeka Obijiofor, who allegedly killed his wife and four year old daughter in Anambra has confessed that he committed the dastardly act because he found out that the wife was cheating on him.

The suspect, who is from Akabor village, Osumenyi in Nnewi South Council Area of Anambra State, disclosed this on Saturday when he was paraded at the State Police Headquarters in Awka.

He was said to have killed the two persons with a shovel on the night of 26th of January, at Ofufe Nza village, Ozubulu in Ekwusigo Council Area.

The deceased persons were his 26-year-old wife, Chisom and the 4-year-old daughter, Amanda.

He was also said to have attacked a local vigilante operative in the area who was trying to rescue the victims before he was overpowered.

When TNC correspondent Kenechukwu Ofomah interrogated him today, the suspect confessed that he also found out that his two year old son was not his.

According to him, the wife confessed that to him.

He however blamed the whole incident on a demon he said possessed him, after he took Indian hemp to calm his nerves when his wife broke the unsavoury news to him.

“What happened is still a mystery to me. I have never been arrested by the police before. This was just as a result of anger because my wife abused the trust I reposed in her. I love my wife so much and have neither quarreled nor beaten her but on that fateful day, I came back and met her with two men who I don’t know,” he said.

He went on; “I inquired and my wife said the men were her friends. I wanted to leave but she held me and confessed about my son. At that point, I couldn’t bear the shock and I stormed out of the house to go and smoke Indian hemp to calm myself, Surprisingly, after taken the hemp, I got worse and it was as if a demon had entered me. I came into my house to take my work tools and head out and my wife grabbed me and we struggled for hours before I used the shovel to kill her and my daughter.”

He pleaded for mercy, stressing that he did not intend to kill the wife but only lost his conscience after the smoking.

“I couldn’t believe I did it until I opened my eyes and found myself in police net. This is just too much for me to bear,” he sobbed.

Earlier while parading the suspect, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna said the case is being investigated at the state CID Awka, saying the suspect will soon be charged to court.

He reiterated the command’s commitment to flushing out criminal elements from the state, so as to make the state habitable for lawful citizens.
