Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has distanced himself from claims making rounds on Social Media about being employed by the Nigerian Football Federation.
The 2013 AFCON winner revealed that his initial post does not have any link with him returning to the Super Eagles as part of the goalkeeper trainee but a mere post.
Enyeama said he intended to visit the Eagles camp during the AFCON.
“I haven’t received any appointment from the NFF, nor have there been any discussions about it. My earlier comment was merely personal, indicating my intention to visit the team’s camp during the AFCON. Whenever I attend, I take any chance to encourage the lads.”
Nigerians have for long solicited with the NFF to bring Enyeama to the coaching team—goalkeeping department to help solve the persistent problem in the department.
At the local level, Enyeama played with Ibom Stars, Enyimba, and Iwuanyanwu Nationale before moving abroad featuring for Bnei Yehuda, Hapoel Tel Aviv, Lille, and Maccabi Tel Aviv.
He started his career with the Nigeria National team from 2002 until October 2015, as he was made the Captain of the Super Eagles in 2013 until he retired from international football in 2015.
With 101 caps, Vincent was Nigeria’s most-capped player until November 2021 when Ahmed Musa broke the record.
