It is a pedestrian knowledge that Edo state Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in its well -considered wisdom, recently elected Mr Asue Ighodalo, an accomplished investment banker and Osarodion Ogie, former Commissioner, former Chief of Staff and incumbent Secretary to the State Government(SSG) to fly the party’s flag as Governorship and Deputy Governorship candidates respectively, in the forthcoming gubernatorial contest scheduled for November 2024.
It is also an open secret that as statutory demand, the party (PDP) constituted a campaign Council to derive the above objective, with North Carolina, United State of America (USA), based Dr. Uyi Igbinadolor, a famous medical practitioner and quietly influential Edo son, as member of the great council.
What is, however, a newsy and highly commendable development is the awareness that the Team Dr. Uyi Igbinadolor for Asue/Ogie, a formidable political pressure rooting for electoral victory of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie, Governorship and Deputy Governorship candidates respectively, in the forthcoming gubernatorial contest, has through its consistent creative value addition strategies redefined political campaign in the state in ways that will make the forthcoming contest a walk in the park for the candidates of the party.
Aside from working impressively to the admiration of all within and outside the party through issue based campaign devoid of calumny and character assassination, also interesting is the consciousness that the group enjoys national/international outlook as its membership cuts across Edo state to include people from other states- including worthy Nigerians resident outside the country.
Take as an illustration, Chief Jude Ogbekile, an illustrious son functions as the Group’s Coordinator while Delta state born but United States of America based Grand Knight Emeritus, Tonna Okei, Ikuku Oma, whose father was a former Commissioner for Health in the now rested Bendel state, is the Deputy National Coordinator of the political movement.
As part of the Group’s numerous effort to empower the people of the state at the grassroot as well as domesticate the Asue/Ogie political project, Team Dr. Uyi Igbinadolor for Asue/Ogie, recently teamed up with the Benedicta’s Market Women Money, the Chairman of Etsako East Local Government Area, Princess Benedica Attoh, to distribute N10,000 each to traders in support of the vegetable, pure water, fufu, fish, grinding machines, hawking and other businesses they are engaged in.
While handing over the money to each of the beneficiaries at the market, Coordinator of Team Dr. Uyi Igbinadolor for Asue/Ogie, Chief Jude Ogbekile urged the beneficiaries to plant the financial support from the U.S based donor as a seed by adding it to their micro businesses. He thanked the council chairman for the good report about her human capital development activities as seen and heard across during the tour in the market.
Addressing the women, the council boss introduced Dr. Uyi Igbinadolor as the donor of the N300,000 for 30 women, which they are in the market to distribute as a lifeline to support the poorest of the poor in the society due to the high level of hunger caused by the inhumane policies of the Federal Government.
Continuing, the Council Boss added that more of the women will be captured in other zones of the local government in the next few days.
She described the lifeline support as one that is offering hope, dignity, reducing poverty, promoting self-sustainability and development. She called on public-spirited men and women to emulate the Edo born United States based medical practitioner, Dr. Uyi Igbinadolor by extending helping hands to those that need help the most in the society. She said charitable donations play significant roles in poverty alleviation, especially in rural communities.
Princess Attoh further expressed gratitude to Sir Tonna Okei, a brother and friend also based in the United States, who she said facilitated the donation, saying Dr. Igbinadolor has a track record of always putting smiles on the faces of the downtrodden in the society. She assured that the distribution of financial support to the downtrodden across various markets in Etsako East Local Government would continue in Okpekpe, Imiegba and Okpella Markets, respectively within the week.
For his part, Grand Knight Emeritus, Tonna Okei, Deputy Head, Team Dr. Uyi Igbinadolor for Asue/ Ogie, while speaking with some selected journalists recently, insisted that the choice in the first instance, of Dr. U. Phillip Igbinadolor, a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and Diplomate of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, as a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Council in the forthcoming Edo state gubernatorial poll, speaks volume of a party desirous of winning the governorship contest in the state.
Describing the Edo state born Dr. U. Phillip Igbinadolor as a well foresighted, self-contained and quietly influential health professional whose views are not only globally respected but well sought after, Sir Tonna assures that Dr. Uyi will be bringing this intimidating wealth of experience and his international connection to bear in this newest assignment.
