The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man, Peter Sinamai, over the alleged killing of his biological father and dumping of the corpse in a well in their community.
Sinamai, a resident of Sangere Gombi Local Government Area, was arrested following a report received by operatives of the command concerning the alleged incident.
Preliminary investigations by the police indicated that the suspect allegedly killed his father before disposing of his body in a well within the community.
Following the discovery, police operatives recovered the corpse and deposited it at a mortuary for autopsy as investigations continue to unravel the circumstances surrounding the alleged killing.
The state Commissioner of Police, CP Kabiru Umar Hassan, has ordered a discreet and thorough investigation into the incident, with a view to establishing what transpired and determining the suspect’s culpability.
Confirming the arrest to newsmen, the command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
The police urged members of the public to remain calm and provide relevant information that could assist investigators in getting to the root of the incident.
