The City of Houston in Texas has named October 25 as Fidelity International Trade and Creative Connect (FITCC) Day in celebration of Fidelity Bank Plc’s commitment to boosting bilateral trade and economic development between the City of Houston and Nigeria.
In a statement issued in Houston on Thursday, Mayor Sylvester Turner of Houston formally proclaimed the special day.
“Whereas, the Fidelity International Trade and Creative Connect summit committed to fostering bilateral trade and economic development between the City of Houston and Nigeria,” the proclamation states in part. Fidelity Bank Nigeria has received praise from the City of Houston for its dedication to boosting global trade.
Therefore, October 25th is declared to be Fidelity International Trade and Creative Connect Day by me, Sylvester Turner, Mayor of the City of Houston.
It should be remembered that on October 24 and 25, 2023, in the City of Houston, Texas, United States of America, Fidelity Bank sponsored the second edition of its international non-oil trade exhibition, known as FITCC Houston.
More than 160 businesses showcased their products at the event, which also included panel discussions and networking opportunities aimed at, among other things, boosting the number of Nigerian companies exporting to the United States and helping exporters develop the capacity to raise product quality and comply with international standards.

In her welcome speech at FITCC Houston, MD/CEO of the bank Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe stated, “We are frequently asked why we chose to host this year’s FITCC in the City of Houston, and our response has revolved around the economic opportunities provided by its demographic profile and ethnic diversity as well as its strategic location, which makes the City the ideal destination for international trade and a transit point to other regional markets in the South of the United States of America.”
