The Speaker of the House of Representatives has set up a seven-member investigative committee to look into allegations that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s tax laws were altered after being passed by the National Assembly.
The committee will examine claims that the versions of the tax laws published in the official government gazette are different from those approved and signed by the National Assembly.
The issue was raised on Wednesday during plenary by Hon. Dasuki, who represents the Kebbe/Tambuwal Federal Constituency of Sokoto State.
He brought the matter under a point of privilege, alleging discrepancies between the gazetted documents and the original bills passed by lawmakers.
The investigative committee is chaired by Hon. Muktar Betara, with members including Idris Wase (Plateau), James Faleke (Lagos), Sada Soli (Katsina), Iduma Igariwey (Ebonyi), Fredrick Agbedi (Bayelsa), and Babajimi Benson (Lagos).
