Heavy Rain and Windstorms Devastate 58 Nomadic Schools in Jigawa State

No fewer than 58 nomadic schools have been destroyed in Jigawa State due to severe weather conditions.

The Executive Secretary of the Nomadic Education Agency, Hajia Ramatu Muhammed, disclosed this information during an interview with journalists in Dutse on Saturday evening.

She explained that the destruction was caused by heavy rainfall and windstorms, which wreaked havoc across many areas where these schools are located.

The adverse weather conditions have significantly disrupted teaching and learning activities in the affected regions, as the schools suffered extensive damage.

The agency’s Director of Works, Alhaji Garba Hamza, also commented on the situation, revealing that the Jigawa State government has committed a sum of N392.8 million to restore the damaged schools and ensure they return to full operation.

In light of the recent disaster, Alhaji Hamza has urged the state government to consider increasing the annual budgetary allocation for the Nomadic Education Agency.

He emphasized the need for proactive measures, enabling the agency to respond swiftly and effectively to such disasters in the future.
