Nigeria’s Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire has been inducted into the OSHAssocation UK Fellowship by the Occupational Safety and Health Association UK.
According to the body, this was due to his campaigns for safer and secure workplaces in Nigeria particularly his role in mitigating the spread of the Coronavirus.
The award was presented to him by the Third Regional President of the Association, Dr. Dalhatu Mohammed, at the Association’s 10th International Safety Conference and Award 2020 held in Abuja.
The elated Minister, while receiving the award said he held the award in high esteem as an attainment of the highest status in the Health and Safety Sectors.
Osagie thanked the Association for recognizing his roles both as a professional and a public servant.
He said “in the course of my career as a medical doctor, I have dealt with a lot of injuries from workplace-related accidents. Workplace fatalities and injuries are serious concern
and all hands must be on deck for safety and health advocacy at workplaces”.
The Minister commended the Occupational Safety and Health Association for leading the field of Occupational Safety and Health in promoting safety best practices in the public and private sectors.
He admitted that the award given to him is a call to serve “as to whom much is given, much is expected”.
Others who received the fellowship award with the Minister of Health were the Minister of State, Labour and Employment, Festus Egwaremu, former military Governor of old Rivers State, His Royal Majesty King Alfred Papapreye Diete, Executive Governor of Delta State, Sen (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, Chairman of Ukwani Local Government, Ogbuefi Chukudi Dafe, the Rector, Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti, Dr. D. H. Oladebeye and many others.
The Association’s New Regional President, HRH Dr. Olusegun Aderemi when presenting the fellowship awards to the inductees charged them to key into the Association’s Safety Advocacy Project 2021-2013 launched in the conference by the Honourable Minister of Health.
The OSHAssociation UK Fellowship is the topmost grade in the Association reserved for accomplished top executives in the public and private sectors such as Governors & Deputy Governors, Honourable Ministers of various Government Ministries, Executive Chairmen, Chief Security Officers, MDs/DGs of Government Agencies & Department, Chief Executive Officers of Multi-national Organisations & top professionals in the industry.
