HEALTH: For a Great Skin, Eat Foods That Will Increase Melanin Production

Melanin is extremely important to the human body; not only that, but many women spend several thousands a year in tanning beds. Did you know that if you eat certain foods they will increase your melanin production, which in turn, will give you a darker tan and protect your skin from damage?

So, the question remains… What type of foods should you include in your diet to increase your melanin production? Oysters, organ meat, and shellfish contain copper. Copper helps increase your melanin production. When selecting organ meat it is important to take note that liver contains the highest amount of copper.

Chicken, turkey, fish, cheese and milk are also fantastic foods to consume when one is trying to increase his or her melanin production.

If you have never been a fan of soy, now is the time to reconsider this. Soy contains tyrosine which is an amino acid. The good news is soy is not the only food that contains this… Pumpkin seeds, lima beans and sesame seeds also have it.

Other foods you should consider eating are: nuts, legumes, almonds, peanuts, dried beans, dark leafy green vegetables, avocados, bananas, chocolate, and whole-grains.

If you are looking for an excuse to consume more chocolate you may have just found one!
