‘He Has Failed’ – Ibrahim Modibo Calls for Sack of NSA, Nuhu Ribadu

A political affairs analyst, Ibrahim Modibo, has called for the removal of Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, citing the persistent security challenges across the country.
Modibo made the call on Friday during an interview while reacting to the worsening security situation and recent terrorist attacks on military positions.
The public affairs commentator criticised the current security architecture, arguing that the National Security Adviser had failed to effectively address the growing threats posed by terrorists and armed groups.
According to him, recent attacks on military Forward Operating Bases that reportedly led to the deaths of at least three General Commanding Officers highlight serious lapses in the country’s security strategy.
“The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, should be sacked. He has failed. The security architecture has failed. And if someone is failing exams, will he continue graduating? He should be let go,” Modibo said.
He also stressed the need for Nigeria to adopt stronger technological measures in its security operations, particularly in the protection of military installations.
Modibo questioned why advanced surveillance systems, including cameras and satellite monitoring, were not being fully deployed to monitor military bases and surrounding environments.
“Apart from drone surveillance, assuming our military is equipped with modern materials, is it not possible to install surveillance cameras that can monitor the surroundings of military control areas 24 hours a day?” he asked.
The analyst further criticised the continued payment of ransom to terrorists, noting that security agencies should be able to track criminals through technological means.
“For a very long time these terrorists have been capturing people and collecting ransom. Security agencies know ransoms are being paid. Why can’t technological tracking devices be inserted into the money to help trace these criminals?” he added.
Modibo urged authorities to prioritise the use of modern security technology and reforms within the security sector to address Nigeria’s ongoing security crisis.
