An Abuja resident identified as Shuaibu Yushau, who attempted suicide at the Katampe Hill in the Federal Capitgal Territory, FCT Abuja has been referred to the Social Development Secretariat for mental assessment and evaluation by the FCT police command.
The lone protester who attempted suicide by climbing a mast in Abuja, Nigeria, threatened to take his own life, if among other things, the removal of fuel subsidy which has caused worsening economic hardship, was not reversed.
It was gathered that, Shuaibu Alhaji Yushau, who was taken into custody by the FCT police command, will be evaluated at the Social Development Secretariat (SDS). And if found to be mentally stable, he will face charges for attempted suicide, disturbing public peace, and incitement.
The spokesperson of the command SP Josephine Adeh revealed this in a statement on Tuesday July 9th.
Adeh called on residents to remain law-abiding and avoid actions that could lead to the breakdown of law and order.
