Hansi Flick has spoken out about his altercation with Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti on the touchline during Barcelona’s El Clasico victory.
In Saturday’s season-opening El Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu, Barcelona defeated arch-rivals Real Madrid 4-0, putting on yet another incredible display.
The Catalan giants emerged victorious with two goals from Robert Lewandowski and one each from Lamine Yamal and Raphinha. Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of Los Blancos, was spotted having a furious discussion with his opponent Flick after Raphinha scored the visitors’ fourth goal.
When questioned about this altercation at his press conference following the game, the German manager responded, “I haven’t seen it. I’ve spoken to him, but it’s a normal situation. We celebrated the goal. We’re adults enough to talk about them.”
Ancelotti has previously stated, “I had an issue with the assistant, not with Flick,” making it clear that he was upset with one of Flick’s assistant’s festivities rather than the Barcelona head coach. In front of our bench, the assistant celebrated in an impolite way. Flick agreed when I told that to him in a very regular way.
Real Madrid leads in head-to-head results in official competitive matches with 105 wins to Barcelona’s 101 with 52 draws as of the match played on 26 October 2024.
Barcelona scored eight goals against Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, two of the best teams in Europe, to top off an incredible week.
With four goals, including a hat-trick against the Bundesliga powerhouses in the Champions League, Raphinha significantly contributed to their victory in what could have been two challenging games.
On November 3, La Blaugrana, who now lead their opponents by six points at the top of the table, will play their next La Liga match against local rivals Espanyol. On the other hand, Real Madrid leaves for Valencia one day sooner.
