Gunmen Kill Pastor, Injure Two in Fresh Attack on Plateau Community

A clergyman identified simply as Pastor Philibus has reportedly been killed, while two members of his congregation sustained critical injuries after suspected Fulani militia terrorists attacked Fubok village in the Daffo District of Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The attack, which reportedly occurred on Thursday night, was confirmed by conflict journalist Masara Kim Usman in a post shared on his Facebook page on Friday.

According to Usman, the assailants stormed the community and opened fire on residents, killing the pastor and leaving two worshippers critically injured.

He added that the attackers had earlier struck a nearby village, where three other residents were reportedly killed before advancing to Fubok.

“Terrorists reportedly invaded Fubok late evening hours after killing three residents, leaving a pastor dead and two of his members critically injured,” Usman wrote.

In a separate update, the journalist reported that violence was continuing in parts of Plateau State.

“At least two killed in ongoing shootings south of Jos, Plateau State. Reports say two were killed and one injured in Daffo, Bokkos LGA, while shooting persists in Dorowa, Barkin Ladi LGA,” he stated.

The latest attack came despite an earlier security alert issued by the President of the Berom Youth-Moulders Association (BYM), Barr. Solomon Mwantiri, warning residents of a planned attack in the area.

In a Facebook post before the incident, Mwantiri urged travellers and residents to avoid the Dorowa Babuje axis and remain vigilant.

“There are reports of an impending attack around Dorowa Babuje. For your safety, travellers coming from Jos to Mangu, and those intending to use the Dorowa Babuje axis, are strongly advised to suspend their journey and remain in a safe location until the area is declared safe by security agencies,” he said.

He also appealed to security agencies to immediately deploy personnel to the affected communities to prevent further bloodshed and restore normalcy.

The BYM president further urged residents to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information, and prioritize their safety as security operatives respond to the unfolding situation.
