Gunmen Kill Mechanic Adopt Wife And Daughter In Lafia

One Danteni, a mechanic at the Gandu Community, in Lafia the Nasarawa State Government, has been shot dead by unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.

The armed elements were said to have invaded the community at about 7 p.m on Monday abducting many residents of the area including the wife and daughter of the deceased.

Reacting to the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in Nasarawa State DSP Rahman Nansel said that upon knowledge of the incident security operatives of the command swung into action but met the victim already shot dead.

“Our personnel of the command went back with a re-enforcement team to protect the entire Gandu community but before they could reach the house of the deceased, his wife was taken away by the gunmen. “Our personnel combed the entire area but all efforts to rescue the woman proved abortive”.

According to the District Head of the community, Abdullahi Mohammed the kidnappers had deserted the scene of the attack before the arrival of the security personnel.

Abdullahi stated that as a matter of urgency, the Nasarawa State Government must take drastic action in securing lives and property in the area by establishing security formations that comprised of the Army and the Nigerian Police Force in order to forestall further breakdown of law and order.

Gandu community, a home to many Students of the Federal University Lafia, has come under consistent attack in recent times. A situation that has created a tensed atmosphere in the area.
