Gunmen have attacked several communities in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, North-Central Nigeria, abducting an unspecified number of residents during Friday prayers.
The attacks reportedly occurred in Dekara, Gidan Zana, Sabon Gida and Masaka communities, according to residents of the affected areas.
The lawmaker representing the area in the National Assembly, Hon. Jafar Muhammad Shetiman Borgu, confirmed the attacks to the BBC Hausa on Saturday.
He said authorities were yet to determine the exact number of people abducted after the gunmen took them into the forest.
The lawmaker also disclosed that several worshippers were reportedly killed during the attacks, describing the situation as tense and frightening.
Residents are said to be living in fear following the incident, as efforts continue to establish the number of victims and the circumstances surrounding the attacks.
