Suspected kidnappers have abducted the traditional ruler of Ode Oriya community in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, Adeniyi Adelana, after attacking his palace on Saturday night.
According to the Ondo State Police Command, about six armed men stormed the residence of the 60-year-old monarch and whisked him away through a nearby bush path. During the attack, his wife sustained a gunshot wound to her right hand and is currently receiving treatment.
Police spokesperson Abayomi Jimoh said security operatives have launched a search-and-rescue operation, with tactical teams combing forests and suspected escape routes to secure the monarch’s release and apprehend the perpetrators.
The latest incident adds to growing concerns over rising kidnappings and violent attacks across Ondo State, prompting renewed calls for stronger security measures.
