Gunmen attack Tsangaya school in Sokoto, 15 students missing

Pastor murdered

Gunmen went to Tsangava school in Gidan Bakuso, Sokoto State, and took away more than 15 students.

It happened around 1 am on Saturday. The school owner, Liman Abubakar, said they are still counting, so there might be more missing students.

The gunmen came into the town at 1 am, shot one person, and kidnapped a woman. When they were leaving, they saw students going to their rooms and took many of them.

“We have so far counted 15 who are missing and we are still searching for more,” he said.

This is not the first time bandits have attacked the village. Kabiru Dauda, a member of the state House of Assembly, got a call about the attack at 2 am. He contacted local authorities and security agencies for help.

“I reached out to the local government authorities and security agencies and I am sure they are doing something about it,” he said.

In another incident, bandits killed three people in Turba village in Isa Local Government Area, including the village head.

This happened as a revenge after security forces attacked the bandits’ hideouts two days ago.

The Sokoto State Police Command spokesperson, ASP Ahmad Rufa’i, said he didn’t know about the attack but promised to find out from the local police officer.

This attack happened when the state was celebrating the graduation of its Community Guards Corps, a program by the government to fight banditry.
