Gunmen have abducted Ambassador Bashir Isa Gusau, the North-West Youth Leader of the Tinubu and Shettima campaign organisation in Zamfara State.
The abduction was disclosed on Thursday by security analyst Bakatsine in a post on X, where he revealed that more than 30 armed men stormed Gusau’s residence in Gusau town and forcefully took him away in the presence of his wife.
Security agencies were immediately alerted and have launched efforts to track down the assailants, but as of the time of filing this report, Gusau’s whereabouts remain unknown.
Reacting to the development, Bakatsine raised concerns over the persistent insecurity in Zamfara State, particularly the continued activities of bandits who have carried out repeated attacks and kidnappings across the region.
“Gunmen suspected to be bandits abduct Ambassador Bashir Isa Gusau, North-West Youth Leader of Tinubu/Shettima, Zamfara Chapter. Over 30 armed men stormed his home in Gusau and abducted him before his wife. Security agencies alerted, but no trace yet. How long will these bandit attacks continue?” he wrote.
Zamfara State has in recent years remained one of the flashpoints of banditry in Nigeria’s North-West, with frequent cases of abductions, killings, and attacks on communities, despite ongoing security operations.
