The Gombe State branch of the All Progressives Congress (APC) issued a stern warning to potential political aspirants in the state, urging them to hold off on declaring their intentions to run for political office until the year 2027.
The party expressed its disapproval of the actions of these prospective candidates, particularly those vying for the gubernatorial position.
It emphasized the need for these individuals to cease their activities, which it believes are causing distractions for Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya in his efforts to fulfill his campaign pledges to the people.
Furthermore, the APC announced the dissolution of all political structures and contact committees established by these aspirants.
It called upon its loyal members to refrain from engaging in any unauthorized campaign activities until the ban on political campaigns is lifted.
The party underscored its commitment to upholding its constitution and stated its readiness to impose sanctions on any member found to be in violation of its rules.
During an expanded State Executive committee meeting held by the party in Gombe, a communique was issued detailing the discussions and decisions reached. Moses Kyari, the Publicity Secretary of the APC in Gombe, released the communique, which highlighted various political developments within the ruling party in the state.
Among these, the meeting commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his steadfast leadership, especially during challenging times.
The governor’s dedication to serving the people and delivering on his promises despite economic hardships was acknowledged as a testament to his commitment to their well-being.
The party also extended congratulations to its members on the successful nomination of candidates for the upcoming local government council elections.
It urged all candidates, party members, and the general public to uphold the law and ensure peaceful and harmonious elections.
According to the Gombe State Independent Electoral Commission (GOSIEC), the next chairmanship and councillorship elections are scheduled to take place on April 27, 2024, across the 11 local government areas and 114 wards of the state.
