The Jos Electricity Distribution Plc (JED) has linked the recent dip in electricity supply within its coverage areas to a sharp reduction in power allocation from the national grid.

This was made known in a statement released on Wednesday in Jos by the company’s Head of Corporate Communications, Mrs. Saratu Dauda.

Dauda explained that the shortfall in grid allocation has significantly limited the volume of electricity available for distribution to consumers.

“The reduction in power supply is a result of decreased allocation from the national grid.

“As a distribution company, our capacity to supply electricity is dependent on what is made available to us,” she said.

She noted that the situation is largely outside the company’s control and urged customers to bear with the current challenges.

According to her, the Disco is actively collaborating with key stakeholders in the power sector to find lasting solutions and enhance supply consistency across its network.

Dauda also reaffirmed the company’s resolve to deliver improved services, stressing that measures are being pursued to stabilise electricity supply.

The development comes at a time when many Nigerians are expressing frustration over erratic power supply and persistent challenges in the nation’s energy sector.
