Mason Greenwood’s career revival continues to gather momentum in France, with two Premier League sides now exploring a sensational move to bring him back to England.
The 24-year-old forward has been in outstanding form for Olympique Marseille, turning his once uncertain future into one of Europe’s most talked-about football resurgences.
After his departure from Manchester United, Greenwood’s journey back to the top began with a loan move to Getafe, where he scored eight goals and contributed six assists in La Liga. That form earned him a permanent £26.6 million move to Marseille in July 2024.
Since then, the Englishman has become a star in Ligue 1, netting 21 goals and adding six assists in his debut season, finishing as joint-top scorer alongside PSG’s Ousmane Dembele, and firing Marseille back into the Champions League.
The News Chronicle reported that Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are among several clubs closely monitoring Greenwood’s progress. Spurs see him as a potential boost to their attacking options, while West Ham, currently battling near the bottom of the table, view him as a much-needed catalyst to turn their season around.
However, any return to the Premier League would not come without controversy, as both clubs are wary of public reaction to his comeback in England.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are believed to be leading the chase, with scouts reportedly attending recent Marseille games to assess Greenwood’s performances. The Catalan side view him as a key addition to Hansi Flick’s dynamic frontline, potentially reuniting him with Marcus Rashford, who is currently on loan from Manchester United. Atletico Madrid are also keeping tabs after being impressed during his Getafe stint, while Saudi clubs Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr are preparing lucrative bids.
Greenwood, who has expressed his desire to stay in Europe and compete in the Champions League, recently told Marseille media that he feels “at home” in France. His resurgence has also reignited debate about his international future, as he weighs a possible switch to Jamaica while leaving the door open for an England recall.
