Christopher Green and AbdulHakeem Mustapha have emerged as leading contenders to head the proposed Normalisation Committee expected to oversee reforms in the Nigeria Football Federation.
The development comes ahead of a planned FIFA visit to Abuja, where officials are expected to meet the National Sports Commission and NFF over the ongoing reform process.
The News Chronicle reports that two influential groups are lobbying the Presidency for their preferred candidate to lead the committee following the resignation of Ibrahim Gusau, Mohammed Sanusi and the entire NFF board.

Green, a former NFF board member and coordinator of Rivers United, is reportedly backed by state Football Association chairmen who believe his experience makes him suitable to drive the reform process.
Another powerful group, led by a former NFF president, is supporting Mustapha, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria with extensive experience in football administration and legal structures.
Mustapha previously served on FIFA’s Anti Racism and Anti-Discrimination Committee and was president of the CAF Appeals Committee.
The proposed committee is expected to guide reforms and organise a fresh election for the NFF board, with FIFA expected to vet the names being considered.
