Governor Zulum Visits Troops, Consoles Chibok Families, Announces New Security Measures

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, on Saturday visited the 25 Task Force Brigade in Damboa, assuring soldiers that the government and people of Borno fully support their ongoing fight against Boko Haram and ISWAP.
At the front line military base, Governor Zulum sympathised with officers and soldiers over the recent attack that claimed the lives of some troops. He praised their courage, sacrifice and commitment to protecting the state.
He said “On behalf of the government and people of Borno State, we are here to commiserate with you over the recent incident that led to the loss of your colleagues. We pray for the repose of their souls and for quick recovery of the injured. For those still on duty, may God protect you and give you strength. We appreciate your sacrifices and will continue to support you with the resources we have.”
The governor was received by Brigadier General Igwe Patrick Omokeh, Commander of the 25 Task Force Brigade.
Zulum’s visit to Damboa was part of a wider tour of communities in southern Borno. Earlier, he met with grieving families in Chibok, where he condoled with them over the recent attacks that led to loss of lives and destruction of property.
He assured the community that the government, in partnership with the federal authorities and security agencies, is putting stronger measures in place to prevent future attacks.
“We came to sympathise with you over what happened in Chibok in recent days. It is painful, and we share in your grief,” he said. “God willing, the insecurity in Chibok will be permanently addressed. We will take action, and we ask for your patience.”
Governor Zulum announced financial support of N1 million for each bereaved family and N500,000 for those whose properties were destroyed in the attacks.
