Governor Zulum reaffirmed Borno’s commitment to agricultural progress

The Governor of Borno State, Babagana Umara Zulum, emphasized his administration’s steadfast dedication to advancing agriculture within the state. 
He articulated this commitment during a gathering in Maiduguri, underscoring the significant efforts being made to harness both human capital and material resources for the agricultural sector’s growth.
Governor Zulum highlighted the procurement of essential agricultural machinery and inputs like tractors, chemicals, and fertilizers as tangible steps taken by the government to bolster farming activities.
“Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, as you are aware, the Borno State Government has given top priority to the development of Agriculture in the state, and that is why concerted efforts are made to mobilise both human and material resources to boost agriculture in the state,” Zulum said.
Moreover, he assured continuous support to farmers, expressing confidence that such assistance would notably enhance their productivity.
The occasion marked the commencement of the Renewed Hope Initiative Women Agricultural Support Programme (RHI-WASP), spearheaded by Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of the President.
This initiative aims to empower women engaged in agricultural endeavors and contribute to President Tinubu’s agenda for food sufficiency.
At the event, which saw representation from dignitaries including the wife of the Vice President, Nana Kashim Shettima, a total of 220 women farmers and individuals with disabilities benefited from the program.
 Among them, 120 women farmers from each of the six northeast states received financial aid amounting to N500,000 each, while 100 people with disabilities from Borno State received N100,000 each.
“Today, we are supporting twenty (20) women farmers per state in the Northeast zone with the sum of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500,000) each,” the first lady said.
Senator Oluremi Tinubu underscored the significance of the initiative, emphasizing the allocation of financial support to twenty women farmers per state in the Northeast region.
The draft cheques were to be handed over to the respective first ladies of the states for onward disbursement to the beneficiaries engaged in various agricultural activities.
Dr. Falmata Babagana Umara Zulum, the wife of the Borno State Governor, expressed gratitude for the support extended to agricultural women and people with disabilities in the northeast region.
The event drew the presence of notable figures including the Deputy Governor of Borno State, Umar Usman Kadafur, as well as the wives of governors from neighboring states and other key stakeholders.
In addition to political representatives such as Senators Muhammed Tahir Monguno and Kaka Shehu Lawan, members of the House of Representatives, and other government officials, the gathering underscored a collective commitment to advancing agricultural development in the region.g
