Governor Zulum Meets Army Chief Shaibu in Abuja Over Borno Security

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, on Tuesday met with the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, at the Army Headquarters in Abuja as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security and consolidate peace in the state.
The meeting, held behind closed doors, was part of Governor Zulum’s routine engagements with Nigeria’s Service Chiefs on security matters affecting Borno State.
Zulum’s administration has consistently identified security and the restoration of normalcy as major priorities, particularly in communities affected by years of insurgency.

The state government has also continued to provide logistics and other forms of support to the military and security agencies operating in Borno, enhancing their capacity to protect residents and sustain ongoing counter-insurgency operations.
The meeting comes amid continued military operations against remnants of Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters in parts of the North-East. Troops have sustained offensive operations aimed at disrupting terrorist activities and restoring security to affected communities.
Governor Zulum was accompanied to the Army Headquarters by Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, representing Borno South Senatorial District; Hon. Malam Gana Bukar Kareto, representing Kukawa, Mobbar, Guzamala and Abadam Federal Constituency; Commissioner for Finance, Lawan Umar Dalorima; and Commissioner for Planning and Economic Development, Maina Yaumi.
The Governor’s engagement with the Army leadership underscores the continued cooperation between the Borno State Government and the Nigerian military in addressing security challenges and supporting the return of normalcy across the state.
