Governor Zulum inaugurates Special Advisers, LGA Chairs, and Perm Secs

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, oversaw the swearing-in of 29 Special Advisers, 27 Local Government Chairpersons, and 7 Permanent Secretaries to the Borno State Civil Service.

This happened at the Government House’s multipurpose hall, with the Chief Judge of Borno, Kashim Zanna, represented by Hon. Justice Haruna Mshelia, administering the oath of office.

The 27 newly sworn-in Chairpersons, including a lady from Jere Local Government, emerged victorious in the 2024 Local Council election held on January 20.

The 29 Special Advisers consist of individuals from diverse backgrounds, including Yoruba, Igbo, indigenous technocrats, and politicians from various Local Councils in the State.

After presiding over the oath, Governor Zulum urged the new officials to fulfill the expectations of the government and the people of the state in their respective roles.

He specifically emphasized the importance of honesty, impartiality, compassion, and fairness for the elected Local Government Chairmen, urging them to work towards the shared prosperity mantra of the government.

Governor Zulum stressed the significance of local governments in the overall development focus and strategy of the government.

He called on the new council chairpersons to pay adequate attention to addressing issues such as poverty, joblessness, and insecurity.

Addressing the Special Advisers, Governor Zulum emphasized the need to prioritize the state’s interests over personal or sectional interests.

He highlighted their role in providing expertise and knowledge in areas such as policy development, economic matters, and social issues to support the government’s agenda.

The Secretary to the State Government, Head of Service, and Commissioner for Local Government and Emirates Affairs urged the newly sworn-in officials to embody patriotism, dedication, sincerity, and genuine commitment to the welfare of the people in their remarks.

Hon. Tukur Digira, delivering the vote of thanks on behalf of all sworn-in officials, expressed gratitude to Governor Zulum for the opportunity to serve the state.

He assured the governor of their commitment to their responsibilities and pledged to contribute meaningfully to the success of the administration.

The ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor, Senators, the APC’s National Vice Chairman for the North, and traditional leaders such as the Shehu of Borno, Emirs of Dikwa, Bama, Biu, Gwoza, Askira, Shani, and Uba. Government officials, party representatives, and other stakeholders were also present.
