Governor Zulum Forms 32 Member Committee for Flood Relief Distribution in Maiduguri

—

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has established a 32-member committee to oversee the distribution of relief materials to the victims of the recent flood disaster in Maiduguri.
This announcement was made on Monday in a statement by Alhaji Bukar Tijjani, the Secretary to the Borno State Government.
The committee is tasked with ensuring that aid reaches those affected by the severe flooding caused by the collapse of the Alau Dam spillway.
The flood, which occurred on November 10, led to numerous fatalities and widespread destruction of property across Maiduguri and its surrounding areas, although the full extent of the damage is still being assessed.
Heading the committee as Chairman is Alhaji Baba Gujubawu, who currently serves as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Monitoring and Evaluation. He will be assisted by Co-Chairman Prof. Ibrahim Umara from the University of Maiduguri.
The committee’s composition is broad, including representatives from various key organizations and agencies.
These include the North East Development Commission (NEDC), the Nigeria Police Force, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
Also represented are the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).
In addition to these government bodies, religious and traditional leaders from the region have been included, alongside relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
Furthermore, representatives from various United Nations organizations present in Borno State, as well as Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), will serve as members of the committee.
Governor Zulum’s administration is committed to ensuring that the flood victims receive adequate support and that relief distribution is conducted transparently and efficiently.
The involvement of various government agencies, international bodies, and local community leaders is expected to enhance accountability and coordination in the distribution process.
