Babagana Umara Zulum has donated N150 million to the families of three military officers who lost their lives in recent attacks in Borno State, reaffirming his administration’s support for fallen heroes and wounded personnel.
The governor made the donation on behalf of the Borno State Government, describing it as part of ongoing efforts to assist families of security personnel and volunteer forces killed in action, including scholarship programmes for their orphaned children.
During condolence visits on Wednesday, Zulum first met with the family of the late Lt. Col. Salihu Iliyasu in Abuja, where he expressed sympathy and presented a cheque of N50 million. He praised the deceased officer’s dedication and service to the nation.
The governor later travelled to Niger State and Kano State, presenting N50 million each to the families of the late Lt. Col. Aliyu Saidu Paiko and Lt. Col. Umar Farouq.
Zulum commended the officers for their gallantry and sacrifices in ongoing counter-insurgency operations, adding that his administration would continue to stand by families of fallen soldiers.
He also announced plans to visit other bereaved families and prayed for the repose of the deceased and strength for their loved ones.
The governor was accompanied by senior government officials and community leaders during the condolence visits.
