The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has expressed his appreciation for the peaceful and well-organized conduct of the Local Government elections held on Wednesday October 9, 2024.
His remarks came after he cast his vote at the Pushik 1 polling unit in Ampang West, located in the Mangu Local Government Area, at approximately 9:15 a.m.
Governor Mutfwang praised the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) for their effective organization of the electoral process, which aimed to ensure free, fair, and credible elections.
He noted, “The exercise has commenced in earnest,” reflecting his satisfaction with the preparations and execution of the voting process.

This high level of engagement among the electorate filled him with optimism for the election’s outcome.
Reassuring the public, Governor Mutfwang stated that their votes would indeed count. He expressed his contentment with the efficiency of the voting process, highlighting that it was running smoothly and was much faster than the Biometric Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) used in previous general elections.
“I’m pleased to have cast my vote. The process is smooth and much faster than the BVAS machines used in general elections,” he remarked.
He also conveyed confidence in the ability of the electoral system to manage the large turnout of voters effectively.
The simultaneous accreditation and voting processes were proceeding without any issues, which he deemed a positive sign for the integrity of the elections.
Furthermore, Governor Mutfwang noted that the peaceful atmosphere of the election allowed security personnel to maintain a low profile, as there were minimal disruptions.
He emphasized the transparency of the election process, crediting it for the calm demeanor exhibited by voters throughout the day.
In light of the successful conduct of the elections, he underscored the importance of continually evolving electoral systems.
“The smoothness of this election has taught me that we must remain adaptable regarding technological platforms for elections,” he stated.
He further emphasized the critical role of accreditation in maintaining the integrity of elections, asserting that seamless accreditation instills confidence among voters that their votes will count, thereby promoting the overall growth and integrity of the electoral process.
