Gov Zulum Unveils Plan to Deliver Seamless 2027 Hajj Operations for Borno Pilgrims

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has pledged to strengthen preparations for the 2027 Hajj to ensure a smoother and more successful pilgrimage for intending pilgrims from the state.

The governor made the commitment while receiving the 2026 Hajj operations report from the Executive Chairman of the Borno State Hajj Commission, Prof. Yakubu Yunus, at the Government House in Maiduguri.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the governor’s spokesperson, Dauda Iliya.

Zulum commended the commission for the successful conduct of the 2026 Hajj exercise and assured that the report would be carefully reviewed to build on the achievements recorded while addressing the challenges encountered.

“I am honoured to receive the report of the 2026 Hajj operations. We shall study it carefully, analyse the exercise and come up with measures to improve future operations,” the governor said.

He stressed the need to begin preparations for the 2027 pilgrimage without delay, noting that early planning would help sustain the successes recorded in previous Hajj operations.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing the necessary support to ensure a hitch-free pilgrimage and called for stronger coordination and collaboration among officials of the Hajj Commission.

Zulum also underscored the need to improve the welfare and remuneration of commission officials to enhance their efficiency and service delivery.

Earlier, the Executive Chairman of the Borno State Hajj Commission, Prof. Yakubu Yunus, described the 2026 Hajj as one of the most successful in the state’s history.

He attributed the success to the dedication and teamwork of the commission’s officials and expressed appreciation to the governor for his continued support.

Yunus particularly thanked Zulum for providing quality accommodation for Borno pilgrims in Makkah and for facilitating the provision of Hadaya and Ihram, which contributed to the successful conduct of the pilgrimage.
