Gov. Umahi appoints 513 additional aides as Sanwo-Olu approves N35,000 new minimum wage

Gov. David Umahi of Ebonyi State has approved the appointment of 513 additional aides to serve as his Technical Assistants (TA).

The governor’ Principal Secretary, Chief Clement Nweke, who made this known in a statement in Abakaliki on Wednesday, said the appointees were drawn from the 171 political wards in the state.

The appointees, according to him, are to report to the office of the principal secretary with their credentials for documentation.

“Appointees from Abakaliki, Afikpo North, Afikpo South, Ebonyi and Ezza North Local Government Areas (LGA) are to report on Nov. 27, 2019.

“The appointees from Ezza South, Ikwo, Izzi, Ohaozara are to report on Nov. 28 while those from Ishielu, Ivo, Ohaukwu and Onicha LGAs are to report on Nov. 29, 2019,” he stated.

The governor, during a meeting with top government officials in September, hinted that he would appoint 800 aides to add to the 4,000 already appointed.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has officially approved the payment of N35,000 new minimum wage to workers under government’s pay beginning from this month.

A circular issued by the Head of Service, Hakeem Muri-Okunola on Wednesday said  Sanwo-Olu, in his determination to improve the welfare and wellbeing of public servants in Lagos State, had graciously approved the implementation of the new minimum wage with effect from 1st November, 2019.

The HOS said the salaries for the month of November was being delayed beyond the usual 23rd day cycle in order to adequately process payment of the new minimum wage.

He said government had agreed to pay GL. 01-06=N35,000.09;. GL. 07=30%;  GL. 08-10=25%; GL. 12-14=22.5% and  GL. 15-17=20%.
