Gov. Bala commends Bauchi youths for resisting protest

Bauchi State Government had on penultimate Monday, conducted a town hall meeting on security issues with the participation of key stakeholders in the polity.

During the meeting which was held at the multipurpose indoor sports hall with large turnout, Bauchi state governor, Bala Mohammed enumerated on why the meeting was organised which was to bring all stakeholders together to discuss issues bordering on security challenges and to disabuse the minds of the youths and members of the public from indulging in violent acts.

He said the meeting was in compliance with the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari to state governors to host stakeholders meeting and discuss ways forward against the engagement of people into violence to press their grievances.

According to a media consultant to the governor, Sanusi Muhammad who was in attendance, Governor Bala noted with satisfaction, the foresight of the entire youths in the state for resisting to join the #EndSARS protest and expressed the gratitude of his government with a promise of remaining committed to the ideals of good governance.

Governor Bala said: “As a youth-friendly government and in addition to the appointment of several youths into sensitive positions, my administration will continue to introduce critical reforms to enable them to contribute meaningfully to national development.

“I would like to commend the Federal Government for directing two serving Ministers to attend this stakeholders meeting to add value and report back to Mr. President. This meeting could not have been organised at a better time than now to proffer solutions against a future occurrence of such ugly protests”.

” I believe the meeting will serve as a forum to rub minds and exchange views to coming up with strategies to identify and check the excesses and selfish tendencies of some people who may want to cause confusion and disorder in the country for their selfish interest.”
He added by saying that the relationship between the state government, security agencies and critical stakeholders has been very cordial and acknowledged the immense contributions of the security agencies to maintenance and promotion of peace in the state.

“Security agencies have been contributing to the maintenance and promotion of peace in the state through timely reporting of all potentially volatile events and incidents with suggestions on how to tackle them. They have also been providing an objective assessment of security situations with constructive advice for application.”

Gov. Bala Mohammed said presently, security agencies are on joint patrol to maintain peace most especially in troubled areas or places where disturbances occur or likely to occur.

“On our part as a government, we have committed our effort to the maintenance of peace, law and order for the peace of the state. We have jump-started the implementation of the Nigerian Police Community Policing with the aim of strengthening internal security management and we shall improve upon that laudable objective.

“I find this medium very relevant to stand tall and tell the world that I am indeed proud of our youths going by their quality and the strength they always display on national issues.”
The Governor pledged to continue his support to security agencies for a conducive working environment and reiterated the commitment of his administration to the protection of lives and property of all.

“Therefore I would like to call on the participants to deliberate extensively on various security challenges with a view to proffering solutions. I have no doubt that this meeting has experienced and knowledgeable stakeholders that will live up to the task.”

In a keynote address, the Hon. Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu said President Muhammadu Buhari has appreciated the maturity displayed by the youths of Bauchi state for not being part of the misdirected agitation.

“Please accept the firm assurances of Mr. President not to take your support for granted. He will continue to reciprocate the good gesture of the government and good people of Bauchi State.”

Malam Adamu Adamu said the present administration in the country has made the security of lives and property a cornerstone of its operation and it will continue to strive in addressing the security challenges facing the nation.

“I Thank the Governor of Bauchi State, His Excellency, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for organising this stakeholders meeting to ensuring relative peace in the state. The President is indeed pleased with the government and people of Bauchi State for the exceptional maturity in responding to national challenges such as the recent unfortunate and unnecessary Endsars protests.”
