Google Unveils Gemini, To Challenge ChatGPT
Tech giant, Google has introduced Gemini, an advanced Artificial Intelligence model, as an upgrade to its Bard chatbot, aiming to outperform rivals like ChatGPT.
This move by Google comes in response to OpenAI’s success with ChatGPT and its collaboration with Microsoft, which caught Google off guard last year.
Sundar Pichai, Google’s CEO, expressed excitement, stating that this launch marks the beginning of immense possibilities in AI.
The development of Gemini represents a significant effort in science and engineering for Google.
According to Eli Collins, Google DeepMind’s VP of Product, Gemini surpasses human experts in specific benchmarks across problem-solving, math, physics, history, law, medicine, and ethics.
Demonstrations showcased Gemini’s ability to recognize and respond to various scenarios, from movie scenes to drawings, by making comparisons, drawing conclusions, and providing suggestions.
Collins highlighted the exceptional performance of the “Ultra” version of Gemini, surpassing other cutting-edge models in 30 benchmark tests related to image understanding and mathematical reasoning.
The AI model comes in different versions: “Pro,” integrated into Bard for diverse tasks, and “Nano,” optimized for smartphones, debuting on Google’s Pixel 8 flagship handset.
