Google Launches AI Automation for Workspace Users, Expands Chrome Features on Android

Google has launched a new platform called Google Workspace Studio, that allows business, education, and enterprise users to create artificial intelligence (AI) agents to automate routine work inside Google Workspace applications.

The announcement was made on Wednesday. According to the company, Workspace Studio is an expansion of an earlier test product known as Workspace Flows and is now being released to paying customers across different subscription plans.

Workspace Studio allows users to build AI agents for apps such as Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Chat, and Meet. These agents handle tasks by following rules set by the user using written instructions instead of computer code. For example, users can ask an agent to sort emails, extract data from invoices, update spreadsheets, or send alerts through chat tools.

According to Google, the system uses its Gemini 3 AI model, which can understand text, images, and documents. Users enter commands through a text box where they describe what the AI should do and when it should take action.

“These agents are designed to perform defined tasks with accuracy rather than acting as general-purpose assistants,” Google said in a statement.

The company said Workspace Studio gives users the option to connect their AI agents to approved third-party tools, allowing workflows to extend beyond Google apps. It added that the agents operate within existing company security settings and follow organizational access controls.

Google also stated that customer data is not used to train its AI models and remains protected under current privacy policies.

Workspace Studio will be released in stages over the coming weeks. It will be available to customers using Google Workspace Business and Enterprise plans, as well as education accounts under the Education Fundamentals, Standard, and Plus tiers. Access will also be provided to subscribers of Google AI Pro for Education and AI Ultra for Business.

Chrome on Android Gains Tab Pinning Feature

In a separate update, Google is also rolling out a tab management feature for Chrome on Android that allows users to pin important web pages in place.

With the new feature, tabs can be fixed to the top of the tab screen, making them easier to find. Pinned tabs cannot be closed by swiping and must be removed manually using an unpin option.

Users can enable tab pinning by long-pressing a tab in the tab overview or selecting the option from the browser menu. Google said the feature is gradually reaching users through automatic updates, though some may need to activate it manually through experimental settings.

The feature has been available on desktop versions of Chrome for years, but this marks its introduction to Android devices.

Google said pinned tabs are intended to improve navigation for mobile users who manage large numbers of open pages for work, study, or daily use.

The company confirmed that tab pinning on Android does not yet sync with desktop Chrome and that availability may vary by device and software version during the rollout phase.
