Google is set to elevate its personal information control tool, empowering users to manage their contact details within search results effectively.

Last year, Google introduced the ‘results about you’ feature, granting individuals the ability to request the elimination of search outcomes containing personal identifiers like phone numbers, addresses, and emails.

Now, the tech giant has taken a step further by enhancing this tool. It equips users with the means to monitor their contact information appearing in search results and promptly notifies them when such data surfaces, enabling them to promptly erase it.

In a recent announcement, Google stated, “In the near future, a novel dashboard will be deployed, ensuring you’re informed about any web-based results displaying your contact details on search. With this, you can seamlessly request removal of these outcomes directly through the tool. Furthermore, we’ll furnish you with alerts whenever new search results containing your contact information emerge, offering an extra layer of reassurance.”

Presently, this functionality is accessible within the United States, with plans for a global rollout in the pipeline.

Additionally, Google revealed its forthcoming worldwide launch of the SafeSearch blurring setting. This feature acts as a protective measure, guarding users and their families against explicit content when conducting searches. Commencing next month, this safeguard will obscure explicit imagery, such as adult or violent graphics, by default in search results.

Google clarified, “We’ve upheld policies that enable the removal of non-consensual explicit images from search. Our commitment extends further as we now facilitate the removal of personal explicit content that individuals no longer wish to be visible in search.”

By introducing these comprehensive enhancements, Google is taking a significant stride in bolstering user privacy and control over their online presence.
