Good Nigerians Avoiding Politics Are Worse Than Bad Leaders — Datti Slams Citizens, Dismisses Opposition Unity

Vice Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 elections, Datti Baba-Ahmed, has delivered a blunt critique of both citizens and opposition actors, saying Nigerians share responsibility for the country’s governance challenges.

Speaking on Channels Television in an interview monitored by The News Chronicle, Baba-Ahmed argued that “good Nigerians” who refuse to participate in politics are complicit in bad leadership, insisting they are “even worse” than those currently in power.

He also dismissed reports of opposition unity, describing the widely discussed Ibadan summit as a “lie.” According to him, there is no realistic pathway for opposition parties to present a single candidate ahead of future elections.

His comments add a new dimension to the ongoing political discourse, raising questions about civic responsibility and the viability of coalition politics in Nigeria.
