The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA has been able to sustain its grip politically on Anambra State for nearly two decades due to the exemplary governance provided her people by successive administrations and the people’s acceptance of its ideology.
The Anambra State Chairman of APGA, Chief Ifeatu Obi-Okoye made this known on Thursday when he fielded questions from journalists in Awka, Anambra State Capital..
Obi-Okoye, who discussed the role APGA as a political party has played in shaping the future of the state, noted that the party has gone through a series of transformative processes, building up, expanding, and growing.
Some of these processes, he noted, the party has learned from and is rejigging.
“We have had 8 years of Peter Obi’s regime, 8 years of Willie Obiano’s regime and now two years of Chukwuma Soludo and we are re-electing Governor Soludo next year.
“As a party, APGA in Anambra state under my leadership today has been taken back to the roots, how it started.
“APGA is not just a party at the state level, a party with local government and ward structures just like other political parties. APGA has now been taken to the Umunna level, which is the kindred level.
“On the 6th of March, 2024, we inaugurated and started the process of the Solution Kindred initiative.
“Today, we have principal officers- Chairman, Secretary, Women, and Youth leaders at the kindred level.
“The very essence is to take the party back to how it started- a community affair, a mass movement,” Chief Obi-Okoye posited.
He also noted that what the party is doing at the state level, is in line with the vision of the Solution Movement.
The Anambra APGA boss said; “Mr Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has said there would be a cooperative movement to be named ‘Onye aghana nwanne ya’ cooperative movement at the grassroots level.
“Recall years ago, when the governor shared palm fruits and coconut seedlings, it was the kindred structure that was used to distribute those things. Today, when you visit the villages, you will see palm and coconut trees growing in every compound.
“And going forward, that structure will be used to distribute government laudable packages for the people to get them to the actual people.
“This is because the problem has been that most government packages are usually hijacked at the top and do not get to the actual people that they were designed for.
“So, in my opinion, the greatest achievement APGA has made since its inception in 2002, is taking the party to the kindred level.”
