God Gave Me Niche for Villainous Roles – Patience Ozokwor

Veteran Nollywood actress, Patience Ozokwor, popularly known as Mama G, says she believes God gave her a special niche for portraying witches, wicked mothers-in-law and other villainous characters in films.

Ozokwor made the disclosure during a livestreamed interview with content creator Carter Efe, where she reflected on her decades-long career and her reputation for playing negative characters.

The actress said she did not support evil or injustice in real life but fully immersed herself in villainous roles to portray them convincingly and communicate moral lessons to audiences.

“I think God gave me that niche. I hate every ill because I don’t like injustice, war and rancour. When you give me those roles, I try to bring everything into them,” she said.

According to Ozokwor, her portrayal of villainous characters is intended to encourage viewers to reflect on the consequences of their actions and understand the importance of living morally upright lives.

She urged people to consider the consequences of their choices and the outcomes of living either good or harmful lives.

“If you are taking part in any of them, you have to be careful and know the end thereof, for the end justifies the means.

“Know what will happen to you if you live a terrible life, and know what you will gain if you are a good person,” she said.

The Enugu-born actress has enjoyed a career spanning several decades and has featured in numerous Nollywood productions, earning widespread recognition for her commanding performances, particularly in villainous roles.

She also received the Merit Award at the 2023 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.
