Ghana’s GDP Grows 6% in Q2 2026 as Digital Economy Drives Expansion

Ghana’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by six per cent in the second quarter of 2026, driven largely by strong performance in the digital economy.

TV BRICS, a partner of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reported this on Thursday. According to the report, Ghana’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector expanded by 30.9 percent year-on-year in the quarter, compared with 21.3 percent recorded in the corresponding period of 2025.

A representative of the Ghana Statistical Service said the country’s real output of goods and services rose to 51.3 billion Ghanaian cedis, equivalent to about 4.48 billion dollars, during the quarter.

The figure was higher than the 48.4 billion cedis, or approximately 4.22 billion dollars, recorded in the second quarter of 2025.

The report attributed the growth to continued expansion in the services sector, with ICT emerging as one of the major contributors to economic activity.

It added that Ghana’s ICT sector had sustained steady growth over the past three years, reflecting the increasing contribution of the digital economy to the country’s overall economic performance.
