Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour Settles Wife’s Debt with Poet Chika Jones

On Monday, popular Nigerian poet and writer Chika Jones took to Twitter to call out Ify Aniebo, the wife of Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party’s governorship candidate in the 2023 Lagos State elections.

Chika demanded payment for services rendered to Ify Aniebo’s firm, Afroscientric, stating that the total amount due was £778.

Chika Jones disclosed the issue through his X account and mentioned that Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour had agreed to address the matter. In an update post on Tuesday, he provided details of the resolution:

“GRV reached out and arranged a call a few minutes ago. GRV, his media manager, me, and the mediator were on the call.

“GRV said he wanted the matter resolved and would pay the money before today ends.

“I said no problem, but I asked why his wife refused to pay me. The reason given was that she felt unhappy with the work I had done.

“I made it clear that it was both a lie and a wicked thing to say, and there, the matter closed.

“I will be expecting my payment as promised, and once I receive it I will update this thread with a screenshot.”

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour later confirmed the resolution on his X account, stating:

“I have spoken to Chika and extended an olive branch in acknowledgment of an episode that I hope we can put behind us and look to better days ahead.

“The situation has been rectified and his due paid. I also want to express my gratitude to everyone who offered their support in de-escalating this situation. I thank Chika for his understanding and willingness to move forward and also thank him for his support during the campaigns.”

Ultimately the issue was resolved amicably through communication between Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and Chika Jones, with the payment promised settled.
