Funke Akindele Cries Out Amid Claims of Ghosting Jumoke Aderounmu Before Death

The controversy surrounding Funke Akindele and the passing of actress Oreoluwa, also known as Jumoke Aderounmu, has sparked heated debates within the Nollywood community.

Allegations surfaced suggesting that Akindele ignored messages from Aderounmu during her illness, only to publicly mourn her after her demise.

Aderounmu’s brother publicly criticized Akindele for this perceived neglect, leading to a social media backlash against the renowned actress.

In response to the accusations, Akindele explained, “Some people are telling me to keep quiet since I’ve reached out to the deceased’s brother and explained. But I think I deserve…

Somebody commented on my page that I may bury my children. I think that is serious. Why? What have I done wrong?”

“The late Jumoke Aderounmu, I met her years ago. She was an actress, so I gave her some roles. She featured in Jenifa’s Diary and Industreet. And that was it. She acted her role, got paid and left.

“I was unaware of Aderounmu’s illness until her passing and had reached out to express my condolences to the family.”

She also shared her chat with Aderounmu’s brother which read,

“Hello. I’m so sorry for your loss. At no time did Paschaline Alex tell me Jumoke reached out. I was the one who recently asked Jide Awobona of her whereabouts. I’m deeply sorry for this loss. I will never turn a deaf ear to anyone in need around me. I give but I don’t make house about it. May her soul rest in peace. Pls, take heart.”

Funke Akindele in tears called out critics, stating,  “I don’t beef any filmmaker, I do my things, I face where I’m going. The records I’ve been able to break are by the grace of God. Do not forget I’ve got my trying moments too.”

Despite her explanation, tensions remained high as supporters and critics voiced their opinions on social media platforms.

Several celebrities, including Bimbo Akisanya and Juliana Olayode, have come to Akindele’s defense, noting her history of generosity and support towards those in need. Akisanya shared a personal anecdote, stating, “Funke is not perfect, but I know that she is an Angel in her own way.” She recounted how Akindele had financially assisted a makeup artist battling cancer, demonstrating her compassion behind the scenes.

Olayode praised Akindele’s compassion, revealing, “You do a lot of good but you don’t post about it, you don’t do it for publicity.” She recounted how Akindele had emptied her bank account to ensure urgent medical attention for Olayode’s mother during a critical time when she suffered fibroid.
