Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele announced a partnership with Facebook on Thursday, October 29, 2026, to promote her upcoming film, The Four: No One Fights Alone.
She made the announcement on her verified Facebook page and shared a teaser. “We’re taking THE FOUR to the world, and @Facebook is coming with us!” she wrote. She also thanked her fans for their support over the years.
Under the partnership, Akindele will post behind-the-scenes footage, early-premiere clips, and updates on her official Facebook pages in the weeks leading up to the release.
Her company, Funke Akindele Network (FAAN), produced the film, and FilmOne Entertainment distributes it. The story covers friendship and motherhood. The cast includes Bisola Aiyeola, Chioma Akpotha, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Timini Egbuson, Lateef Adedimeji and Ali Nuhu. Singers Waje and Shoday also appear in it.
The Four opens in cinemas nationwide on December 11, 2026. Pre-sale tickets are on sale now.
Funke Akindele speaks about private struggles
Akindele also made news this week for an interview with Larry Madowo of CNN Africa, reported on October 29. She spoke about the pressure of public life despite her cheerful image.
“I cry. I lock myself in the room, cry, break down, hit the bed,” she said. She added that she then picks herself up and carries on.
The mother of two said public discussion of her marriages and breakups added to the pressure. She said she sometimes questions her decisions and worries about how people will judge her.
Funke said she now ranks her mental health and family above work. She also said she is trying to “catch my groove back” and now pays more attention to her appearance. In the past, she said, she focused only on work and often arrived at the office in cornrows, a face cap and slippers.

On Wednesday, October 28, Funke Akindele reacted to a fan’s post of an old clip from her comedy series Jenifa’s Diary. In the scene, her character, Jenifa, tries to persuade Mr. Willy Willy to pursue a romantic connection. The late actor Alexx Ekubo, who died in May 2026, played Mr. Willy Willy.
Akindele quoted the post with laughing emojis and added a tribute to Ekubo: “May Alex’s soul keep resting in peace.”
