The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has declared Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, as the undisputed leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, insisting that former governor and current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has no standing within the ruling party.
Bwala made the assertion during an interview on Channels Television monitored by The News Chronicle, amid escalating political tensions in Rivers State that have culminated in impeachment moves against Governor Fubara at the State House of Assembly.
Aligning with the position of APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, Bwala stressed that party leadership in Rivers is clear-cut.
“In Rivers State, Governor Fubara is the leader of the APC. Wike is not a member of the APC, so he cannot speak for the party,” Bwala said.
He acknowledged Wike’s lingering influence within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but maintained that such influence does not extend to the APC.
“He may be regarded as a leader in the PDP in Rivers State, given that he is a former governor and the party currently has no governor there. But in the APC, the leader is Governor Fubara,” he added.
