Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has publicly addressed Antony’s growing impatience, emphasizing that the Brazilian winger must earn his place in the starting lineup.
Speaking to the media, ten Hag acknowledged Antony’s eagerness to play, saying, “Of course, Antony is impatient, he wants to play and is fighting to play.” However, he stressed that the winger faces stiff competition from other players.
“We have Amad and Garnacho, who have been very effective, and Rashford scoring at the weekend,” ten Hag noted. “Antony has to earn the right in training. The others are doing well, so he has to get over them.”
The manager, however, added that “Antony is fighting, fighting for his position,” stressing that “That’s what we expect from every player who is in the squad at Manchester United – to fight for their place.”
This assessment comes as Antony struggles to secure a regular starting spot, despite his significant transfer fee.
As the competition for places intensifies, fans will be watching closely to see how Antony responds to ten Hag’s challenge. Will he rise to the occasion and secure his spot in the starting XI, or will others continue to impress and keep him on the sidelines? Only time will tell.
